Club Rules
1. The club shall be known as the Vauxhall Badminton.
2. The object of the club shall be to promote the knowledge and participation of its members in the game of Badminton, by the means of General Club play, Tournaments, Inter-Club matches and Championships.
3. The club shall be affiliated to the B. E. the B. B. A. and/or the H. B. A. (to be determined by the committee)
4. The club shall conform to the rules and regulations of the VENUE 360, the B. E. the B. B. A. and/or the H. B. A.
5. The VENUE 360 other than those approved shall assume no financial obligations.
6. The club shall not be responsible for any loss or damage to member’s property or any injury to players on club premises or elsewhere.
7. The affairs of the club shall be managed by a Committee, which shall consist of ten (10) officials and one (1) member. The Committee shall retire each year, but shall be eligible for re-election at the A. G. M.
7a) The Committee has the power to make by-laws and regulations, and to settle disputes not provided for in these rules.
7b) Committee meetings shall be held at intervals during the playing season and that five (5) members shall form a quorum.
7c) The Committee shall have the power to co-opt other members of the club.
8. An Annual General Meeting shall be held at a time suitable to the exigencies of the club, which is seasonal in its activities.
9. Membership is open to all and must be Members of the VENUE 360
9a) The club Committee shall have the authority to accept or reject any application for club Membership at their discretion.
9b) Members using the facilities of the club shall be required to pay their subscription before participating in the activities of the club.
9c) Membership fees shall be as laid down at each A. G. M. and subscriptions shall be due in full on the second Tuesday of September each year (non-refundable).
10. The secretary shall keep correct minutes of all proceedings and shall produce the same at meetings of the committee.
By-Laws
B1. The courts shall be used as follows:
Tuesday 19:00 – 22:00 *** General Club play all categories of membership
Friday 19:00 – 22:00 *** League Matches (1 court to 23:00)
All club tournaments and championships may be held on any of these nights dependant upon commitments of the courts.
B2. The number of teams entered in any league(s) shall be decided from an assessment of the strength of membership at the time of selection.
a)A selection sub-committee consisting of all team captains, the chairperson and the club captain, with the power to co-opt, shall select members to represent the club.
b)Players shall be charged a match fee as laid down from time to time by the Committee.
B3. General Club play.
a) The Chief Steward is responsible for the allocation of courts, usage of shuttles, make up of games, etc. And shall nominate committee members to assist when required.
b) Games that are selected shall be played without alteration and with enthusiasm.
c) Common curtsy like returning the shuttle the opponents if it lands on your side of the net after a rally.
d) Take the shuttle back to the table after each game for chief steward or his nominated person to evaluate.
B4. Visitors will be allowed to attend for one (1) evening at the end of which they will either offered the opportunity to return for a further two (2) weeks or will be told that they are not of the standard required, and recommended to attend the Sunday adult club.
During the winter season they will be told that if the club has reached its quota they may only attend once a month.
If after the further two weeks there will be another assessment and then one of the following decisions would be carried out.
a) They will be invited to join the club and pay outstanding fees.
b) They will be told that their standard of play is not good enough.
c) They will leave on their own accord.
The last two items b & c will mean that the visitor fees already paid will not be refunded, as it will be if they join the club.
B5. Club Membership categories.
Full Associate members of the VENUE 360
Student Associate members 16yrs. and over in full time education.
Junior Associate members under 16yrs. old.
